What is it?
BizMiner produces granular industry statistical reports that provide industry financial analysis benchmarks for more than 5,000 lines of business and industry market trends on thousands more. Market analysis reports are available at the national and local levels down to the zip code. Micro Firm Profit-Loss Reports cover sole proprietorships and start-ups which is ideal for those writing business plans and looking to benchmark financials.
When should I use it?
Use when creating a business plan, valuation assignment, or researching industry ratios.
Bloomberg
Access is limited to a terminal in the library.
What is it?
Bloomberg is one of the world’s premier financial databases and provides data on equities, indices, commodities, currencies, and more. Information on M&A deals, IPOs, and league tables are available in pre-build and customized screens. BU takes you an online training center with videos and BLP has documents covering top functions.
When should I use it?
Use to find nearly any type of financial data, including quotes and technical analysis of U.S. and international securities. Bloomberg provides access to leagues tables for underwriters of equities, fixed income, and mergers & acquisitions.
Restrictions
Access is only available via dedicated terminals in Management, Hotel, and Mann libraries.
Students may create their own account. From the login screen, select the option to create a new user account. Follow the prompts and have your cell phone handy to receive an activation code.
Business Insights: Essentials
What is it?
Business Insights: Essentials brings together a wide variety of business information, including company profiles, company brand and market share, rankings, company histories, chronologies, and articles.
When should I use it?
Use to find company histories, brand share, and market share data. Use keywords to search through three different categories: companies, industries, and articles.
Business Source Complete
What is it?
Business Source Complete includes scholarly journals, business periodicals, trade journals, industry reports, and related information. It covers such topics as management, economics, finance, accounting, international business, and much more. It also provide access to industry, market, and company research which often contain SWOT (Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities and Threats) analysis of larger companies.
When should I use it?
Use when you want to find business-oriented articles. Business Source Complete is the only campus resource that provides full-text access to Harvard Business Review (HBR) and McKinsey Quarterly.
Capital IQ
What is it?
S&P’s Capital IQ is a premier financial database providing easy-to-use tools for financial statement, comparables, and sector analysis. Powerful screening and charting features allow you to create list of firms for your job search and target investments.
Capital IQ includes industry surveys (trends, operations, industry specific information on analyzing companies it that space, and ratios) and high-level overviews of industries, financial markets, and regional economies. Ideal for researching companies (both public and private), deals (M&A and security issuance), and private equity and venture capital deals.
When should I use it?
Use for researching public and privately held companies, transactions, and professionals worldwide.
Restrictions
Capital IQ is available on dedicated terminals in the Management Library (computers 11 & 12). These terminals include the Capital IQ Excel API/plugin; the Excel API/plugin must be used in-library and cannot be installed on individuals’ work/personal computers.

CEIC Data
What is it?
CEIC provides access to 1.2 million macro-economic time series and statistics from more than 50 countries. Contains 4 databases – Regional, China Premium, Sector information, and the Daily database. World-wide stock exchange indices are also available through the daily database.
When should I use it?
Use when you need international economic, industrial and financial trends data. Times-series can be directly retrieved from the database and imported into Excel.
Corporate Register
What is it?
Corporate Register is a global directory of CSR (corporate social responsibility) resources including the world’s largest online directory of company issued CSR, sustainability, and environment reports from around the world.
When should I use it?
Use when you are trying to find CSR reports of specific companies.
Restrictions
Requires free registration to access reports.
County Business Patterns
What is it?
County Business Patterns provides annual detailed industry information by geographic location. It includes the number of business establishments, number of employees, and the payroll.
When should I use it?
Use when searching for top U.S. industries by state, county, metropolitan area, or Zip code.
CQ Interactive
What is it?
Created as a supplement to the popular Case in Point, CQ Interactive provides additional case questions, drills, interview questions and resume advice for preparing for an interview.
When should I use it?
Use when preparing for consulting interviews to practice case questions.
Economist Intelligence Unit
What is it?
International coverage and access to EIU’s Country Report, Country Profile, CountryData, CityData, and Market Indicators and Forecasts.
When should I use it?
Use EIU.com when doing research on countries other than the U.S. or when comparing multiple countries. CityData is especially useful if you need price data (including food prices) on a city level.
Factiva
What is it?
Global news and business information, including company and market research. Provides full-text coverage of The Wall Street Journal.
When should I use it?
Use Factiva when you need full-text access to thousands of publications, including global news and business information. Also the best option if you need to search The Wall Street Journal.

Firsthand (formerly Vault)
What is it?
Career insider guides focused on help for job seekers. Include information on a company’s corporate culture, salary negotiation, interview tips, and more. You must create a personal user account using your Cornell email address to access Vault’s Career Insider.

Foundation Directory
What is it?
The Foundation Center directory contains information about the largest public and private foundations in the U.S. Detailed grantmaker profiles include information on purpose, program areas, fields of interest, and staff. The database also contains form 990s, awarded grants, and RFPs. Company profiles include CSR information and their related grant giving organizations.
When should I use it?
Use to create a list of foundations or grants in a particular area.

What is it?

What is it?

What is it?

What is it?
A directory of worldwide business information (using D&B’s Hoover’s data) that enables you to access private and public U.S and international business data, executive contact information, industry research, and the ability to access industry profiles.

Mintel Academic
What is it?
Mintel Academic produces full-text market research reports for the U.S., U.K., and selected other countries.
